Australian drops that rival the French

Real champagne has always been a must for real celebrations. But we’ve discovered two Australian sparkling wines that are far better than the well known mid-range frenchies you can easily pick up at the usual shopping centre bottle shops: Bellebonne Vintage Sparkling Rose (around $80) and House of Arras Grand Vintage (around $100).

It can take a bit of planning to celebrate with these drops as you’ll have to order online rather than last minute shopping on your drive to the big event. But it’s absolutely worth it — they will not only knock your socks off but make sure you’re always invited back too.

We suggest buying a few bottles from the winemakers directly (they both have clubs where you get discount and offers for new releases).

Or better still, order up through The Wine Collective, Australia’s oldest wine club, which has great deals on many Australian wines and champagnes (including mixed cases and anything from everyday to special occasions). These guys are the real deal, not just any online retailer. They support smaller wineries, have a website that would make any wine snob proud and even offer free access to wine advisors.

You’ll save a fortune by being prepared for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmases to come. And you and your friends will enjoy your glass of wine much more too.

Santé!
