Underwear that’s all Australian

Who works from home a lot? And who’s fashion radar has changed as a result?

I still love a good dress up, but more often than not weekday wear is casual and I have needed to stock up on jeans, boyfriend shirts, jumpers, activewear and underwear.

Why underwear, you ask? That’s because I don’t just work from home — but sometimes work from sauna.

Once or twice a week there will be a meeting where I just need to listen rather than talk. So I grab my things and head to the local gym, which has recently put in a wonderful infrared sauna. I get down to my underwear, plug in the airpods, listening and learning while I sweat away. I come out with that post sauna buzz, and I must say also feeling quite smug about my excellent time management abilities too.

So, what options are there for sauna-going underwear that hails from Australia?

Top of the Australian Style Hunter list is Modibodi, leak proof underway that’s not just for that time of the month, but brilliant for exercise too. We love this brand, all it does for women and all it stands for. And it’s just what we need for work from sauna days. If you haven’t yet tried Modibodi yet, you’re missing out!

Underwear that is 100% Australian made and owned:

Ahead of being sold to an American company, Bonds stopped manfacturing in Australia – selling off its machinery and letting go its workers. And it was at that time that Tuffys & Tuffetts was born, thanks to an ex-employee. It’s still a wholly Australian-owned company and everything is 100% Australian made with love, and with Australian cotton.

Also 100% Australian owned and made from Australian organic fabrics (including Marino) are Wonderpants. Made to last, and with comfort at the hear, Wonderpants pride themselves on keeping your bum comfy. They are designed and made in central Victoria, and they cater for the whole family.

Underwear from Australian labels that is manufactured overseas:

We love (with two hearts) Bimby and Roy’s women’s underwear designs – so cute they can be worn as swimwear as well as underwear. Stretchy and lined with bamboo, so you’ll always be comfy with Bimby and Roy. This Northern NSW based company manufacturers offshore, but closeby – in Fiji.

Melbourne brand Praire promise Australian men and women a lot of great things: “Socks that don’t slouch. Towels that don’t scratch. Undies that don’t itch. Loungewear that doesn’t overheat. Boasting their own moisture-wicking, odour-absorbing fabric, the brand is 100% Australian-owned, with machinery work done in China under fair-trade conditions.

The Unseen Label are all about classical style and comfort – creating a range of nude intimates for women and men using sustainable materials. And each time you buy, you can feel good that the Unseen are giving back to through donations of money and new underwear to crisis shelters. Made at a BSCI certified factory in China, which is close to where they source their bamboo and cotton.

For ladies who want softness and comfort, you have to try The One Two who offer bras and underpants that are somewhere between silk and cotton. For this Australian brand, fit is key – they only offer a few options designed to be worn with joy. Ethically manufactured in Sri Lanka.

And if you want something special, try Miyako’s devine lingerie pieces that are made from fabrics like recycled polyester and organic cotton. We love the cotton range, as well as the adorable Darcy Shorts. Miyako is designed in Byron Bay and manufactured in Indonesia (Bali) and Hong Kong.
